Girl, 11 gets pregnant and Mum is proud of her for keeping baby

26 November 2007 7 Comments

As a mum, I am speechless. The girl is 11, she is smoking 20 cigarettes a day (she began smoking at nine and started drinking tonic wine and vodka cocktails at ten). Her mum is “not ashamed” of her daughter at all - in fact, she’s “proud of her for keeping the baby”.

This is nuts. The girl’s mother is obviously an unfit parent to let her daughter go around smoking and drinking at 9 years old.

I think her keeping the baby- is ok since she will be 12 and let’s face it, centuries ago, women did have babies that young … but the mentality that its ok and that the girl thinks taking care of children is bringing them to the park … all this says more about the mother really.

I guess the father is absent in all this … as are all the other family members, if there are any.

How appalling! Keeping the baby is one thing but chain smoking 20 cigarettes a day is irresponsible! The mother shouldn’t even encourage her daughter to smoke.

Health Nut: She may not even know her child was doing that. As for the issue of age, perhaps the body might be able to take it, but mentality I think not. “Last time” you can give birth and let the kids run around… these day you have to nurture them, the demands are different, the environment and culture are different..

    Wishbone:Yes, it’s quite shocking.

You never know if having a baby would change the lives of the girl. Maybe she would be more sensible after this?

I just pity the guy. Always the one who lose out in the end. There goes the future of another young father.

motd:Why is the guy always the one to lose out in the end? Is the father even in the picture in this case?

Sounds to me that motd is another one of the many egotistical males around, eager to jump into any situation to defend/empathise in the “sufferings” of his fellow species…
