Guess whose fat face is in Vanilla this month?

May 29th, 2008 by Xtralicious

That’s right!

And if I knew they were going to crop off my body chest down, I wouldn’t have bothered with the turtleneck. :P

But yes, it is indeed thrilling to be featured in a magazine that I have immense respect and liking for. I feel deeply honored, appreciative and touched.

So pardon me, if I have plastered the good news all over the place. :P

*PS: As a celebratory gesture and to thank my dear customers and friends for their support, the store is giving away an environmentally friendly recycled cotton tote with every purchase of two items. Have fun shopping!

It’s Saturday, countdown to Monday

April 27th, 2008 by Xtralicious

..when I will be starting work with the private equities group.

Sometimes, I will wonder out loud to Big about the absurdness of the headhunter’s increasing offers and
how I think it’s all a ridiculous dream where I will wake up and then tell him about the ridiculous dream I just had about a headhunter calling me and throwing money in my face.

But it is.

And each time they called me and made an increment, I would immediately inform Big in the hope of finding the voice of reason in such incredulity. With each hesitation, each request to consider other offers, each pause in my response, I get an increment.

It was ridiculous. RIDICULOUS. I was blown away beyond belief.

It got to the point that the percentile got to over 30 freaking percent and they throw in fully covered medical insurance and coverage (doctor’s bills, medications, tests, whatever) for me and the children just to pull at the mother’s heart strings.

Ridiculous.

And then I found out why.

The reputation of handling difficult men apparently precedes me. Once again, new boss is extremely difficult and once again, he had also gone through a few staffs before the headhunter called me. Déjà vu.

Thank you so much, ex boss for giving me such a good reference and giving it the final stamp of validation in verbal exhortations.

Most of all, I am most thankful that the opportunity was given to me when I was not looking for it; that I was blessed to have increments with each job I took; good bosses (hopefully this one too) and that Big had also been headhunted into a much better position and also with a good increment.

I am most grateful for what I have and what I have worked for.
